A Saint Basil the Great (330-379 AD) was born in Cappadocia (a region of today's Turkey). Saint Basil gained a firsthand knowledge of monastic practices, abandoned secular life, took up the ascetic life, and devoted himself to an intensive study of the Bible. Saint Basil composed his first work, entitled "The Moral Rules", in 360 AD, which consisted of principles for living the Christian life, a life lived according to the Gospel. According to Saint Basil, Christian life can be understood in terms of the double commandment of love: love of God and love of neighbor. Saint Basil was a devout follower of the Bible, especially the writing of Saint Paul, with a focus on prayer and work. Q Who are the Sisters of Saint Basil the Great?
A The Sisters of Saint Basil the Great are a community of women dedicated to the spiritual and educational pursuits of the people of God.
