Saint Basil Academy announces new Principal

05.15.17
Dear Faculty, Staff/Administration, Parents, Students and Alumnae of Saint Basil Academy,
I am pleased and excited to announce that the Search Committee has chosen Mrs. Connie D’Angelo as Principal of Saint Basil Academy effective July 1, 2017.  After conducting a thorough and exhaustive national search, there was a unanimous agreement among the members of the Committee, that Connie is the right choice.
With seventeen years of experience as teacher and administrator in Catholic Schools, Connie has a proven track record of success.  Most recently, she served as Dean of Student Affairs at Mount Saint Joseph Academy.  Prior to that, she served as Vice Principal at Saint Basil Academy.  It is apparent to all of us that her love for the Academy and its culture, her enthusiasm for Catholic education, and her ability to nurture strong relationships will continue to build our school’s positive growth.
She holds an Educational Leadership Certificate from Cabrini College, an MA in English from Arcadia University and a BA in English from Saint Joseph’s University.
Connie’s philosophy of education stresses the building of strong relationships through the concept of servant leadership.  She is committed to reaffirming the school’s mission and purpose as an academic and spiritual community and believes that “an educator and administrator balances the many responsibilities that are required at a Catholic school, including demonstrating a strong sense of Catholic identity; implementing and supervising a successful 21st century academic program; using data to drive ongoing improvements; establishing student learning as the central focus of all decisions; and supporting the teachers in their continuing professional and spiritual development.”
I would like to thank the Search Committee under the leadership of Chris Bilotta, whose members include Brother James Butler, Honorable Diane McMonagle Welsh, Christine Meko and Sister Joann Sosler, as well as Mike Furey from Partners in Mission, for their time, effort and dedication to successfully complete the search for our new Principal.
We welcome Connie with open arms and look forward to working together to establish SBA as the school of choice for the area’s young women.
Sincerely,
Sister Dorothy Ann Busowski, OSBM
Provincial and SBA Board Chair
