Leadership Seminar Students attend PA Conference for Women

On Friday October 12, eleven seniors in the Women’s Leadership Seminar class attended the Pennsylvania Conference for Women. After hearing keynote speaker Amal Clooney discuss her work as a human rights advocate, specifically her advocacy for Yazidi women seeking justice from ISIS, we were invited to listen to a panel discussion about unconscious bias. Afterwards, students were given the opportunity to visit speakers and vendors from around the state. Lastly, we attended an interview with Serena Williams, where we learned about her mission to reduce the maternal mortality rate in the United States. Students enjoyed the exposure to so many women in positions of leadership, and were excited to represent Saint Basil Academy at such an incredible event.
