AP Program

March 20 Update from the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Program:

As schools and communities navigate the unprecedented challenges posed by the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the health and safety of educators and students are the AP Program’s top priorities. Here’s how we’re supporting schools:

Through our members across the country, we understand the new time constraints on everyone in the education community. These solutions are meant to be as simple and lightweight as possible for both students and teachers — without creating additional burdens for school leaders during this time.

  • Traditional face-to-face exam administrations will not take place. Students will take a 45-minute online free-response exam at home.
  • Some students may want to take the exam sooner rather than later, while the content is still fresh. Other students may want more time to practice. For each AP subject, there will be 2 different testing dates.

The full exam schedule, specific free-response question types that will be on each AP Exam, and additional testing details will be available by April 3. We’ll also unlock any relevant free-response questions in AP Classroom for digital use so students can access all practice questions of the type that will appear on the exam.

Please consult myap.collegeboard.org for ALL of the latest information on your upcoming AP exams. You have all been registered for the exam and there is no pre-AP work that needs to be completed before the exam. Please consult with your respective AP teacher regarding specific exam content information and use the additional resources found on MyAP to further prepare for the exams. In the next few weeks, you will receive notification (in email form) from the college board with instructions in setting up for and taking the exams online.

Students at Saint Basil Academy can enroll in Advanced Placement (AP) courses sponsored by the Collegeboard. Students enrolled in AP courses take a Collegeboard written exam in May. Students who earn a score of 3 or higher on the exams may earn college credit. Students should check with the individual colleges and universities to see what the specific schools will accept.

Students must meet all prerequisites to enroll in an AP course. See the Program of Study booklet for detailed prerequisite information. All students who are enrolled in an AP course at SBA are required to take the AP exam scheduled in May to fulfill the requirements of the AP course, as stated in the Program of Study. The cost for the AP exam is $94.00.

If you have any questions and/or concerns about the Advanced Placement program, please contact Mrs. Linda Smith, AP Coordinator or visit www.apstudent.collegeboard.org .

We believe in the importance of providing opportunities for students to give back to their communities through service.
