Kelly Shannon

Kelly J. Shannon, Ph.D. (SBA ’99) was recently tenured and promoted to Associate Professor of History at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. Kelly joined the FAU faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2014. Prior to moving to Florida, she was an Assistant Professor of History and International Studies at the University of Alaska Anchorage from 2011-2014. She earned her History from Vassar College in 2003, M.A. in History from the University of Connecticut in 2005, and Ph.D. in History from Temple University in 2010. Kelly’s first book, U.S. Foreign Policy and Muslim Women’s Human Rights (2018), was also published earlier this year by the University of Pennsylvania Press. She is currently working on a book-length study of U.S. relations with Iran from 1905 to 1953.
