Saint Basil Academy offers Varsity and JV teams for Basketball.

View Highlights for the Basketball Program at SBA

The week between Christmas and New Years proved very fruitful for the Saint Basil Academy basketball program.  The Varsity team visited North Charlestown, South Carolina to compete in an invitational tournament there.  The team went 3-0 and defeated the host team Bishop England 49-40 in the Championship game.  Bishop England had won the South Carolina AA State Championship in 2012, 2014, and 2015.  They were ranked 4th in the state entering that game.  Lindsey Joyce, Karen Lapkiewicz, and Natalie Kuckowski were recognized as members of the All Tournament Team and Natalie was selected as the MVP of the entire tournament.
At the same time, the JV team was competing in a local tournament and went 2-0.  The victories came against Cardinal O’Hara in thrilling fashion as we hit the game winner at the buzzer to win 36-34.  The JV team then defeated Archbishop Ryan 53-33.

1/27/15 vs Villa Marie

On Wednesday, 1/27, we invited grade school students to join us for our league game against Villa Maria Academy.  We had 40 students join us.  The students saw the JV team overcome an 11 point deficit to win in OT!  Following the JV game, the Varsity team defeated Villa 59-32.  At half time, door prizes were distributed.  Following the game, grade school players and parents joined the SBA players and coaches in the cafeteria for pizza and refreshments.  Thank you to all the parents and coaches who took time to bring your daughters to grade school night!
