Cheerleading

A St. Basil Academy cheerleader is someone who can excite the crowd and help lead the team to a win. The team cheers at volleyball games and basketball games and keeps up with school events to add a little more spirit to anything they can! As well as taking part in school events, SBA Cheerleading also competes both locally and at UCA Nationals in Walt Disney World.

2020-2021 Information

Welcome to the St. Basil Cheer Team! We are looking forward to a great season together!

Important Information:

We are a nationally ranked and competitive cheerleading team. Being a part of this team is a commitment therefore practices, school functions that require our attendance, volleyball, and basketball games, are mandatory. We practice at least 3-4 times a week along with tumbling. We will participate in team tumbling this season and will have more information about it once life is back to normal after this COVID-19 outbreak.

We will compete at the UCA High School Nationals in Orlando, Florida. All cheerleaders will compete in the Game Day Competition Division and 12 selected cheerleaders will compete in the Traditional, Small Varsity Division. Prior years of experience on the Traditional team will not factor into the decision on who will be on it for the upcoming year. We focus on attitude, dedication, commitment, and skill set.

Cheerleaders will be required to purchase practice tops, a warmup jacket, and competition socks. We will send out the order information as soon as possible.

We will hand out a contract for both the cheerleader and the parent/guardian to sign and abide by.

Monthly Fee and Fundraising:

All cheerleaders and parents are required to participate in fundraisers and functions that are run or affiliated with the cheerleading team. Money raised from fundraisers will go directly toward the team’s cost of Nationals.

This season, we will collect a monthly fee of $100 from August until February. This cost will cover music, competition fees, tumbling, choreography, etc. It will be due on the 15th of every month.

Uniforms:

In lieu of a club (sports) fee, each cheerleader will be required to purchase their uniform. The cost of the uniform is $245, which will be due on September 28th. The cheerleaders will send us their measurements and we will place the order through our Varsity Rep. We will send out more information as soon as we have it from our Varsity Rep.

Schedule:

A monthly calendar will be distributed stating practices and events. Each cheerleader will be responsible to return the calendar with any practices or events missed with a detailed reason for their absence.

Tryouts/Camp:

We will attend a UCA cheerleading camp at St. Basil Academy on 8/24-8/26. We will send home more information as it gets closer. Saint Basil Academy hosted a Virtual Tryout earlier this year. We are still accepting new members and those interested can try out at our pre-season camp. Please email Coach Angela Roman at aroman3401@gmail.com if interested.

A $75 non-refundable camp deposit is due June 12th. The remainder of the camp cost, $150, will be due June 30th.

Additional Information:

Most of our communication will be through the Band App. Once we have a team together, parents will be invited into a 2020/2021 season group where all information regarding practices, events, and other cheer related information will be sent out.
