Juniors and Selected Sophomores (Required) 1.0 Credit

Chemistry is the study of matter and their changes. Students will be introduced to topics of chemistry through inquiry, experiments, data collection, observation and critical thinking, guided by the steps of scientific method. In addition to memorizing ions, course topics include classification of matter, atomic models, the periodic table, dimensional analysis, chemical bonds, molecular structure, stoichiometry, the gas laws and acids & bases. Throughout the course, the influence of science, engineering and technology on society and the natural world will be emphasized.

Prerequisite: Students must have completed Honors Algebra I with an A-. Accelerated Honors Algebra with a B+ AND Honors Biology with a B+, or Biology with an A-.
