This course is a basic survey of the history of the United States from the age of exploration to the twenty-first century. The political, social, economic, and cultural impact of the United States is examined and analyzed. The changing role of America in the world will be explored. Current events are explored during class discussions. This course is designed for students who are motivated to pursue an in-depth study of American History and are willing to spend extra time working independently. This course also requires additional reading and writing assignments.

Prerequisite: Overall GPA of 3.3, minimum grade of B+ in Honors U.S. Government/Economics or A- in U.S. Government/Economics, and approval of the Social Studies Department.
