This course focuses on the literary contribution of many of the great authors of Roman antiquity. Writers such as Vergil, Catullus, Julius Caesar, Cicero, St. Jerome and St. Augustine are studied. Although the authors’ lives and literary masterpieces are the primary focus of the class, grammatical analysis and derivative study continue. Parsing and translation skills are further developed.

Prerequisite: Students must have a B average in Latin III and the recommendation of the teacher.
