Mrs. Alexandra Penkalskyj

As I enter my third year as assistant principal of Saint Basil Academy, I continue the long history I have had with our great school since 1976. I am an SBA alumna (1980), and came back to Saint Basil’s as a full-time music teacher in 1990. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in music and K-12 Music Education Certification from Chestnut Hill College, and a Master of Music from West Chester University (1987). My 37-year teaching experiences started in high school, and have included instruction in piano, children’s choirs and music groups, guitar and vocal instruction, and co-directing my parish choir. My administrative experience began at West Chester University with the WCU Community Music School, and continued as Branch Administrative Coordinator at the Jenkintown (now Willow Grove) Branch of Settlement Music School. Now, as assistant principal, I am excited to continue my work in developing relationships with all SBA constituents, and to be instrumental in developing all facets of our wonderful students’ educational paths. I am also thrilled to serve as department head of the Visual and Performing Arts department, and to coordinate the growth and development of our new Music Academy.
