Because our SBA community had a desire to share our gifts and grace with others, SBA Cares was born. Through SBA Cares, students have ample opportunities to share with those in need. Our students generally work on: one major service initiative per month, certain ongoing projects, and a school wide day of service on Community Day. We have worked with The Ronald McDonald House, The Breathing Room Foundation, Rydal Park, Habitat for Humanity, Wreaths Across America, Toys for Tots, Face to Face, St. Martin de Porres, La Salle Academy, Special Olympics, and Bringing Hope Home. Through these various projects, our girls have reaped rewards and gained awareness; in turn, service organizations are always impressed with the kindness and diligence of our SBA students.  In addition, last year we held our first ever mini-thon and raised $19,000 for pediatric cancer research.

We look forward to many special projects during the school year. Together we will work side by side to follow the ways of Saint Basil himself and “be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.”

Our senior students recently participated in 2 service projects. They served a delicious breakfast to the residents at the Ronald McDonald House and then entertained the children who were staying there with a puppet show. We received a special note of thanks for our wonderful work there! In addition, they helped prepare the lunchtime meal last Saturday at Face to Face Soup Kitchen in Germantown. Thanks to our seniors for giving of their time, talents and for getting up very early on Saturday morning! Mrs. Hartey is always so proud to accompany the students because of their amazing work. These students began this work as freshman, and as seniors, have really mastered it. They already have plans to continue this work after they graduate. A special thanks to Mrs. DiDomenico and Mrs. Harkins for helping us with our projects.
